Going to Work on Issues that Matter to You
After nearly 30 years of defending our nation in the United States Air Force, I know the stakes have never been higher. In the last Congress, I was ranked the #1 Most Effective Republican in the U.S. House and passed the 2nd most bills into law of all 435 members. Read more about my work on issues that matter to you:
The Economy
I believe in conservative, free market economic principles. In Congress, I am working to ease the cost of living, cut taxes, and reduce our national debt:
- Supporting the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023, the largest reduction of our national debt in American history ($2.13 trillion)
- Voting ‘No’ on more than $12 trillion of Joe Biden’s unpaid for, inflationary spending
- Co-sponsoring legislation to eliminate taxes on social security
- Supporting a debt commission to get our fiscal house in order
- Voting to defund Biden’s 87,000 IRS Agents
- Supporting the historic Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 to keep more money in your pocket
The Border and Immigration
The open southern border is unacceptable. I believe immigration is an essential part of our nation’s history and our economic growth, but it has to be done legally. In Congress, I am backing legislation to secure the border and reform our broken immigration system:
- Supporting HR 2 – the Secure the Border Act of 2023 – to resume construction of the border wall, reinstate the Remain in Mexico Policy, hire more border patrol agents, and stop the flow of fentanyl that is poisoning our kids
- Co-sponsoring Sarah’s Law, which requires ICE to detain illegal immigrants who commit violent crimes
National Security and Foreign Affairs
I served nearly 30 years in the United States Air Force and commanded the 55th Wing at Nebraska’s Offutt Air Force Base before retiring as a Brigadier General in 2015. Our nation’s defense and military readiness is my team’s focus in the U.S. Congress:
- Ranked the #1 most effective legislator for national defense policy
- Serving as Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee Quality of Life Panel to address our military’s recruitment crisis and get our service members off of food stamps
- Securing over $1 billion in federal funds to repair and improve Offutt AFB after the 2019 floods
- Supporting our allies and pushing back on the unholy alliance of China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea
Public Safety
The #1 responsibility of any elected official is to keep citizens safe. In Congress, I am working on legislation to support our police and keep our communities safe:
- Introducing the Back the Blue Act of 2023 to increase penalties for criminals who attack law enforcement
- Co-sponsoring the Ensuring Safer Schools Act of 2023 to prioritize hiring retired law enforcement officers and veterans to guard our schools
- Supporting qualified immunity so we have the backs of our police officers
Infrastructure and Jobs
I believe that infrastructure is critical for business development, job creation, and national security. In Congress, I am working to improve our nation’s infrastructure:
- Supporting the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill (paid for by spending offsets) to bring good paying jobs to Nebraska
- Securing historic renovations to Omaha’s Eppley Airfield to make it the best in the midwest
